One Day We’ll All Be Dead Trees

2021 Senior Exhibition (Group Show)

Shiftspace Gallery, Wichita KS

This current work was inspired by black hair, the styles associated with it and the care that comes along with managing it. I explored this subject through two processes of printmaking, lithography and silkscreen. With my silkscreens, I really wanted to play around with color and to give reverence to the different styles of black hair. For my lithographs, I focused on personal memories surrounding my hair and since they are memories I wanted the finished print to resemble an Instant Polaroid, which is how I’ve captured instances growing up.
